After Agent Baum's death the FBI hired his wife as a clerk in the Chicago Office. Agent Baum's daughter, who was 18 mos. old at the time of his death, drove from Washington D.C. to Madison when his name was added in 1999.
Incident Surrounding Death
Agent Baum was shot and killed by "Baby Face" Nelson during a raid on the Little Bohemia Lodge near Rhinelander WI. The object of the raid was to capture John Dillinger and other Chicago gangsters.
