He was induted into the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame and held three world's championships simultaneously. Incident Surrounding Death Beell and his partner encountered four suspects burglarizing the Marshfield Brewing Company. The suspects, using shotguns fired on Beell's partner then engaged in a gun battle with Beell. Beell was struck in the head by a shotgun blast.
