Baribeau End of Watch: December 19, 1995 Age: 38 Rank: Police Officer Agency: Rice Lake Police Department Years of Service: 14 County: Barron Location on Memorial: V Personal Information Mike Baribeau was the first ''officer friendly'' assigend to the Rice Lake schools. He became well know and respected by the town's children. He was survived by his wife and two children. Incident Surrounding Death Officer Baribeau was a member of the Barron County SWAT Team that was assisting Ruck County with a domestic situation where a suspect had fired shots at his wife and had not barracaded himslef in the home. Baribeau and another team member approached a house to determine the suspect's location when the man suddenly burst through the front door and fired on the officers. Baribeau and his partner where both hit on areas not protected by their ballistic shields. Both officers returned fire killing the suspect. Officer Baribeau's wound to the upper leg proved was fatal. His partner recovered from his injuries. Back
