Krueger was off duty attending a square dance at the school across from the jail. He encountered an intoxicated man who had been peeking in the windows. Krueger began escorting the man across the street to the jail when the man drew a handgun and shot Krueger three times. Krueger was able to wrestle the gun from the suspect who fled but was later captured. Capt. Krueger died a week later. The incident that caused Captain Krueger's death occured on 7/12/1952. Back
